Mr Haider Syed began his Urology career in 1992, while working as a Urosurgical registrar at the Perth Royal Infirmary, Scotland. He completed his Urology training at the John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospitals, Oxford in 2000. His academic career includes:

• MSc in Urology MSc Urol 2Yrs (Institute of Urology London) 1996-1998

His Research projects include Pathophysiology of Urinary stones and Genetic factors in the development and progression of transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder. The subject of his MSc thesis was use of Holmium YAG Laser for treatment of superficial bladder cancer.
Mr Syed was appointed as Consultant Urological Surgeon at the North Devon Hospital, Barnstable in May 2001. This position also included joint working at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, part of clinical partnership. He moved to Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield in August 2005. Mr. Syed is responsible for setting up a state of the art Urology Stone and Laser Centre at Good Hope Hospital, serving the community to the highest standards. He is the Lead Clinician for Laser and Urinary Stone disease.
Mr. Syed has special interest in providing Modern Laser and Keyhole surgery for kidney and Urinary stone disease. He specialises in the use of Lasers in Urology for treatment of recurrent superficial bladder cancer, transitional cell carcinoma of the kidneys, bladder neck incision for small prostate obstructions, laser urethrotomy for urethral strictures and laser endopyelotomy for pelviureteric junction obstruction.
Mr. Syed has worked for 25 years in the NHS and has been a Consultant Urological Surgeon for 14 years. He takes pride in the quality of service to his patients which is carried out to the highest professional standards.
